Im trying to install Microsoft Office off a dvd drive. When I'm almost done with installation, the setup rolls back and I receive an error that says. Once im forced to cancel the installation, I also receive a Microsoft Bootstrapper error. THe log below:. This is an installation error having to do with Permissions more or less. Seems there are a lot of bootstrapper errors during installation with Office I've been working this for about a month now and still cant find the right combination or answer. For us the situation is rather unique in that it happens only to a specific series of Thinkstations S30 purchased last year. The year prior and current year do not have this problem, so I think bootstrapper is seeing something in the hardware configuration that it doesn't like.
All PC's came with Office trial which was removed and volume purchase installed. Now I'm upgrading to I have tried all of the recommendations I can find from Microsoft and anyone else, which include: 1 uninstalling all old versions of office 2 used fixit tool KB removes versions before 3 used fixit tool KB removes 4 clean boot 5 disabling anti-virus Kaspersky KES ver 10 6 regedit to remove AppCompatFlags 7 check services enabled - Task Scheduler, Office Software Protection Platform, RPC 8 regedit disable then re-enable Task Scheduler.
Is there anything in the logs that will steer me to what the problem is with installation that is causing boostrapper to fail?
Happy New year Microsoft! It's and I'm still trying to figure out how to install Office That helped about as much as any of the other suggestions above, including those from Microsoft. It still doesn't install. I've already started reloading default factory setup in order to be able to install Office on a couple of machines, but I hate to think that is going to be the answer for all of them. Surely by now Microsoft has found a way to at least identify why the bootstrapper error is occurring so that you can fix it and continue the installation.
The cause of problem was the Task Scheduler service. Been there, done that with no success. Could be the sequence of events that determines effectiveness. Pat I did you ever find a fix for this? I am having the same issues and followed all the mentioned "fixes" with no joy. In our organization, we have a few GPOs that are locking down certain folders to guard against Cryptolocker and similar. Turned out that Office requires access to that folder the appdata folder. I turned the Cryptolocker GPOs off, ran gpupdate on the computer in question turned the GPOs back on right after that , and Office installed without fuss thereafter.
